Pastor's Corner

Dear Parish Family,

Christ Peace!

Coming to the Catholic Church of St. Ann as your administrator and to be welcomed by so many of you has been a great gift. It has been a pleasure to meet so many of you and I look forward to meeting many more of you throughout the summer months.  I share with you, your sorrow of Msgr. Michael Corona’s departure.  And I can only hope and pray that I can live up to his example of loving, devoted priestly service.  I join with you in praying that Monsignor may have a great success at St. Luke Church in North Plainfield as he had here in Raritan.  It is my hope that we continue to see Monsignor at the Catholic Church of St. Ann.  I also want to take this opportunity to thank Fr. John Werner who has served here for the past three years.  He has been a wonderful inspiration and gift to all of us.

I should tell you a little about myself.  I was born and raised here in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and I was a long-time member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in New Brunswick, where I attended St. Peter Grammar School, first through eighth, taught by the Sisters of Charity.  I was taught by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart at St. Joseph High School in Metuchen.  After completion of High School, I then attended the University of Scranton, Pennsylvania, taught by the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits).  Following completion of my degree in communications, I discerned being a priest.  I’ve been a priest of Jesus Christ in the Diocese of Metuchen for the past 13 years.  After being ordained by Bishop Paul Bootkoski on May 29, 2004, I was assigned to St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge as Parochial Vicar from 2004-2006.  Then Bishop Paul Bootkoski asked me to study Canon Law in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University from 2006–2009.    Following my completion of my Canon Law studies, I then was assigned to serve at Immaculate Conception in Spotswood, NJ as Parochial Vicar in 2009-2011.  In 2011, I was asked to be the Dean of Men/Vice-Rector of the College of Liberal Arts, at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio and then served there until June 30, 2017.

I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you how glad I am to be with you as your administrator.  If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

I look forward to praying and working with you as we continue in your wonderful tradition of serving God and his people here in Raritan.

See you in the Eucharist!

In Christ,

Father John
