On Monday, April 30 in honor of Arbor Day, St. Ann School's after school Drama Club performed a play on the importance of trees and keeping our environment clean. The Drama Club is a mix of our fifth through eighth grade students under the direction of Mrs. Maccia, our Science Teacher. We also would like to thank Shoprite of Flemington for donating seeds for the entire school.
Barnes & Noble sponsored an essay contest for the middle school and high school students to write about “My Favorite Teacher”. Out of hundreds of essays, the winner wrote about one of our very own – Roseann Palladino. The essay was written by a former student who was in Mrs. Palladino’s second grade class at St. Ann School and is currently an eighth grade student at Bridgewater schools. Mrs. Palladino was honored Sunday, April 22nd, at 9:45 am at the Barnes & Noble location, 319 US Hwy 202/206, Bridgewater, NJ at a special awards ceremony. We thank all families and staff who came and honored Mrs. Palladino at the ceremony.
Kate Kinst, President of the NJHS at St. Ann School, has shown us that five young adults can make a difference one dress at a time. Kate had a vision of designing and sewing sundresses for those in Ethiopia who are in desperate need for food, clothing and basic necessities. Kate asked her fellow eighth grade NJHS members to help her make a difference. Kate’s mother brought in her machine and showed these five industrious young men and women how to run an electronic sewing machine and how to design a dress from a pillowcase using STREAM principles as a guide. These dedicated five spent more than 30 hours of their own time creating these dresses which will not only clothe people in need but will make someone smile with their beautiful patterns and designs. We all deserve to smile and these five are doing just that one dress at a time.
