CARD CONNECTION
The Card Connection: A volunteer sends cards to parishioners on our homebound list. The cards are sent out once a month.
FOOD DRIVE COLLECTION COMMITTEE
The Food Drive Collection committee collects, sorts and packs pasta and tomato products on the first Sunday of each month and transports them to the Somerset County Food Bank Network. Volunteers are needed to transport food to the Food Bank. This food is then distributed to families in need in Somerset County. The Church of St. Ann has become known as the "Pasta Parish" as we supply most of the pasta distributed each month.
GIVING TREE
Sharing with others is a common thread that runs through the fabric of Christianity. Here at the Church of St. Ann. this sharing is particularly exemplified through the Giving Tree, which helps Catholic Charities, the Division of Youth and Family Services, and several local families. We write gift information on previously prepared tags and then, in late November, we hang the tags on a Christmas tree located in the Church. Those taking tags are asked to return them with the gift to the Church on a specified weekend. Volunteers are needed to sort and deliver the gifts to the various agencies in time for their parties
.
HOME of Somerset County, Inc. (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network of Somerset County – IHNSC)
Home serves homeless families with children in a three-phase approach to combat homelessness. Religious congregations and volunteers are the backbone of the agency, providing shelter, meals, financial support and advocacy. Throughout the process, families receive expert case management and support services from a dedicated staff of social workers and mental health counselors.
A private, nonprofit providing a community response to homelessness through the involvement of interdenominational religious congregations. Please visit their website for more information.
PARISH PROVIDERS
Parish Providers witness their love of Christ to people inside or outside our parish through works of charity that respond to temporary, but critical needs. We need volunteers to provide various services for people experiencing emergency situations. Examples are: a special food collection, an item collection (e.g. furniture, dishes, clothes, etc.), special services (e.g. household or yard chores, etc.), and meal preparation.
MINISTRY TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
The Ministry to People With Disabilities at the Church of St. Ann is a committee that explores ways in which our parish can best serve our disabled parishioners and their families. The committee also keeps up with the latest legislation, such as the Americans with Disability Act. Please contact the parish office if you know of someone needing our help.
THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKETS
Every autumn, The Church of St. Ann asks the parishioners to contribute to a second collection for our Social Concerns Ministry. The money is used to buy fresh produce, canned goods, and gift certificates to purchase turkeys. Volunteers are needed to shop for the food, assemble baskets, and deliver them. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the baskets are assembled in the school cafeteria. Adult and student volunteers assemble approximately 60 food baskets for local families in need. This has proven not only to be an excellent way to provide for those in need, but also is an opportunity for community and fellowship with other parishioners.
PARISH COMMUNITY GARDEN
A parishioner has been planting and harvesting the garden for over four years. This garden is for those who are in need of fresh produce, but we ask that you please do not help yourself, instead call Christine Esposito at the Parish Office or email her at cesposito@stannparish.com.
Thank You to Doug Sullivan for constructing the gravel walkway by the garden beds at the side of the school as his Eagle Scout Project..
